President Donald Trump reaches the 100th day of his second term on Wednesday. Amazon, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, General Motors, Starbucks, Eli Lilly, Airbnb, Cigna, Booking Holdings, Welltower, UBS, Caterpillar, United Parcel Service and dozens of smaller firms release quarterly statements between Monday but also Friday.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the April employment report on Friday. The Commerce Department releases March personal-consumption-expenditure price data on Wednesday, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge. Trump repeated demands for the Federal Open Market Committee to lower the federal funds target range. Fed officials observe a media blackout ahead of the May 6-7 meeting.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis posts first quarter gross domestic product on Wednesday. The Conference Board issues April consumer confidence on Tuesday. The Census Bureau updates March trade balance, retail inventories and wholesale inventories on Tuesday. The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller index for February home prices arrives Tuesday – pending home sales for March follow on Wednesday. The Institute for Supply Management releases April manufacturing PMI on Thursday. S&P Global posts final April manufacturing PMI the same day. The Labor Department issues initial jobless claims for the week ended April 26 on Thursday. ADP counts April private payrolls on Wednesday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics calculates first quarter employment cost index on Wednesday. The Chicago Business Barometer for April appears Wednesday.

Monday Welltower reports first quarter results.

Conference Board consumer confidence for April. Bureau of Labor Statistics – March job openings. General Motors, Booking Holdings, Starbucks release earnings.
